Angeles City to install 1,500 solar lights in major, secondary roads

ANGELES CITY — Solar lights will be installed in all major and secondary roads here by October 2024.

This is in line with the project of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. in promoting a sustainable and eco-friendly environment, as well as prioritizing the safety of the residents.

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas said that a total of 1,500 solar lights were already purchased and delivered to the city government.

“This has been the commitment of the Lazatin administration to promote renewable energy,” Calaguas said.

The said materials were inspected by the General Services Office led by Evangeline Malonzo, Calaguas said.

The City Engineers Office, headed by Helen Ayro, who is tasked with the installation of the solar lights and poles, has already started the markings and is now building the foundation for the solar lights.

“Nag-start na po ang ating mga team sa marking last week, ngayon po, ginagawa na natin ang foundation para sa mga poste,” Ayro said.

To recall, Mayor Lazatin said during his inaugural speech in June 2022, “We will exhaust all our efforts to protect and enhance our environment and light up Angeles City not only in aesthetics but more importantly for keeping city streets safe at night.”
