AUF’s Dr. Angeles named UNESCO Commissioner

Angeles University Foundation President Dr. Joseph Emmanuel L. Angeles has been appointed as a Commissioner of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

He will be representing the non-government organizations, under the Committee on Education.

This appointment recognizes Dr. Angeles’ exemplary leadership and expertise, which align with UNESCO’s mission of advancing education, science, culture, communication, and social and human sciences. As a Commissioner, Dr. Angeles will play a vital role in shaping programs and initiatives that contribute to national and global development, specifically in the education sector.

He joins a distinguished group of individuals who will provide expert guidance, promote UNESCO’s programs, and collaborate with various organizations to drive impactful change. His appointment highlights AUF’s significant contributions to education and beyond.

Under the UNACOM Charter, the commission includes representatives from private organizations, government agencies, presidential appointees, and ex-officio members from the Senate and House education committees. Their responsibilities include advising the Secretariat, drafting programs aligned with UNESCO’s goals and the Philippine context, promoting UNESCO initiatives through partnerships, and forming sub-committees to expand networks.
