MABALACAT CITY – No less than Commission on Higher Education(CHED) Chairman J. Prospero “Popoy” De Vera expressed pride and elation on the latest recognition given to Mabalacat City College.

In his FB post, De Vera cited MCC officials led by Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong and Mabalacat City Mayor Cris Garbo for bringing local universities and colleges (LUC) to global recognition.

The MCC, on Monday night, captured the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia 2024 for Technological or Digital Innovation of the Year.

THE is considered as the “Oscars” for college or tertiary education. It bested other big universities that include Chiang Mai University, Christ University, James Cook University – Singapore, Lovely Professional University, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Marmara University and National University of Singapore.

“Look how far our LUCs have gone…with strategic and decisive presidential leadership & a supportive local government, we can win over older & more established universities.

Mabuhay MCC! CHED is happy to be part of this journey…” De Vera wrote in his post.
