SM Supermalls conducted a Vote Counting Machine (VCM) demonstration and experience in selected malls in the region, in partnership with the Commissions on Elections (Comelec).
SM City Pampanga, Clark, Telabastagan and San Fernando Downtown in Pampanga, SM City Tarlac, SM City Olongapo and Olongapo Central and SM City Cabanatuan were utilized for voter education.
A mock voting exercise is also part of Comelec’s Voter Education Program which is meant to offer public experience on how to cast a vote in election.
VCMs are now deployed in SM malls and mock ballots are available for mall goers to have a first-hand experience of using the machines.
The demonstration of the VCMs would take place during mall hours and would be available to everyone interested to participate.
It can be recalled that SM Supermalls also partnered with Comelec by providing venue for voter’s registration. The partnership of Comelec and SM Supermalls started in 2014.
