Converge, Mekeni make Pampanga proud

Two homegrown Pampanga companies were recognized by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) as Top 1 and Top 2 taxpayers in North Pampanga – Converge ICT Solutions and Mekeni Food Products, respectively.

Besting thousands of companies in Clark Freeport, Mabalacat City, Angeles City, Porac and Magalang, these companies set the examples in compliance to government rules and regulations as well as best practices.

Awarded Tuesday, March 19 at Marquee Mall by the Revenue District 21-A, a flagship tax collection office of the BIR, both of these companies started small but are now a by-word both in households and business enterprises.

Converge’s beginnings can be traced to a video rental shop started in the 1980s by brothers Jack, Dennis Anthony and Allan Uy in Angeles City. They also started Angeles City Cable Television Network before becoming the country’s fastest pure fiber technology for internet.

Mekeni, on the one hand, started as a backyard tocino business by couple-teachers Felix and Meding Garcia. They now offer various food products that are distributed not just in the Philippines but also in various parts of the globe.

Accepting the award for Converge is Atty. Chito Salud, government relations officer while Mekeni Food Corporation President Prudencio Garcia accepted the trophy on behalf of the Porac-based food company.

Aside from BIR Recognition, these two companies and their executives are recipients of various local and international awards.
