Cops arrest 2 suspects behind slay of student

ANGELES CITY – The Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) arrested two suspects behind the death of an 18-year-old Grade 12 student over the weekend.

Police Station 1 Commander Major Alfred R. Andal identified the suspects as Val Rinon Cahanding and Japanie Torbeles.

According to Andal, a kitchen knife and blood stained T-shirts were recovered in one of the suspect’s house.

Victim Juana Mae Maslang was found dead in her home in Jesus St., Purok 4, Brgy. Pulungbulu, Angeles City on Friday.

Reports said the victim’s uncle found her lifeless body after checking up on her, as she was alone in the house where the crime took place.

He looked for the victim and saw her on the floor of her room in a pool of blood.

They rushed her to the Sacred Heart Hospital but she was declared dead upon arrival.

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. lauded the ACPO for the arrest of the suspects. Charges are now being readied for filing against the suspects at the Angeles City Prosecutor’s Office.
