COVID keeps GMA away from SONA

Former President and now Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo will be unable to attend President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA) today after having been diagnosed positive for Covid-19.

Erwin Krishna Santos, the former President’s chief of staff, said Arroyo tested positive in an antigen test last July 15.

She immediately underwent self-quarantine under the care of her personal physician, Dr. Martha Nucum, a pulmonologist presently connected with the Professional Regulation Commission’s Board of Medicine.

Dr. Nucum, who served as the head of former Arroyo’s medical team during the latter’s stay at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center, informed that her patient has been religiously taking the prescribed medicines and supplements required of a Covid-19 patient.

However, an RT-PCR test conducted last Saturday, July 22, showed the Pampanga legislator to still be Covid-19 positive.

Therefore, Santos said, the former head of state will not attend the SONA.
