CRK enhances travel experience thru partnership with SILYA

LIPAD president and CEO Noel Manankil, CDC Director Ana Peralta, SILYA founder Tito Lorete Alcala and CIAC president and CEO Arrey Perez lead the ribbon cutting ceremony signalling the launch of a project providing rocking chairs for the elderly placed at strategic areas in the airport.

Premier gateway Clark International Airport (CRK) has reaffirmed its commitment to comfort and ease as it provides a seamless flying experience for everyone.

CRK manager and operator Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. (LIPAD) has joined hands with Sa Iyo Lolo at Lola Yantok Aming Alay (SILYA), a social enterprise supporting seniors.

Under this partnership, rocking chairs, crafted by a group of Filipino artisan furniture makers, many of whom are seniors themselves, are made available in strategic locations in the terminal.

This further enhances current airport features designed with everyone’s convenience in mind, which includes accessible toilets, elevators in all boarding gates, and golf carts to help seniors and PWDs.

Noel Manankil, President and CEO of LIPAD says, “SILYA’s mission aligns seamlessly with our vision for an inclusive and accessible airport experience. We believe that travel should be comfortable for passengers of all ages, and this collaboration is a step towards achieving that goal.”

SILYA was founded by Tito Lorete Alcala, whose personal advocacy stems from his observation of the lack of seating facilities for senior citizens in various public spaces. Dissatisfied with the existing legislation’s failure to mandate such provisions, he took matters into his own hands and established SILYA to honor and support the elderly community.

“SILYA is more than just rocking chairs; it’s a symbol of respect and consideration for our seniors. Partnering with LIPAD allows us to extend this comfort and support to a wider audience at Clark International Airport,” says Tito Lorete Alcala.

The partnership launch was attended by both CRK and SILYA representatives.
