Mayor Garbo calls for responsible pet ownership

MABALACAT CITY – Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has issued a directive for the City Veterinary Office to collaborate closely with all barangay chairmen to address the rising concerns of biting incidents and promote responsible pet ownership in the city.

MCG’s order aims to implement city and barangay ordinances effectively, with a focus on reducing biting incidents within the community.

The City Veterinary Office, under the guidance of Dr. Abel Canlas, will work hand in hand with barangay chairmen to:

  1. Coordinate Vaccination Drives: Ensure that all pets in the city, especially dogs and cats, are up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations. By conducting vaccination drives and outreach programs, the city aims to increase vaccination coverage and prevent the spread of rabies.
  2. Enforce Leashing and Supervision: Emphasize the importance of keeping pets on a leash and under control while outdoors. This measure not only prevents biting incidents but also promotes responsible pet ownership and consideration for every barangay.
  3. Educate the Public: Raise awareness about the risks of rabies and the significance of responsible pet ownership through information campaigns and community engagements.

Mayor Cris Garbo also emphasized the importance of collective effort in achieving a rabies-free environment for all Mabalaqueños.
