MABALACAT CITY — As the dry season sets in and temperatures rise, Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has issued a timely reminder to the residents of Mabalacat to take necessary precautions to safeguard their health and well-being.
In a recent statement, Mayor Cris Garbo (MCG) who is the League of Cities of the Philippines’ (LCP) Focal Person for Health, advised Mabalaqueños to stay hydrated, protect their skin from excessive sun exposure, and be vigilant against the potential risks associated with the hot and dry weather conditions.
“To my kabalens, please take care during this very hot season. Always drink water to rehydrate and protect your skin from overexposure from the sun,” Mayor Garbo emphasized.
Furthermore, in light of the Department of Health’s (DOH) warning about the increasing cases of pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, Mayor Garbo highlighted the importance of staying informed and taking preventive measures against this highly contagious respiratory disease. The DOH reassured the public that vaccines for pertussis are readily available in the country.
“I have instructed our City Health Office and Rural Health Units (RHUs) in Mabalacat City to closely monitor the situation regarding pertussis. There have been no reported cases of pertussis in Mabalacat. Nonetheless, the Mabalacat City Government urges the public to remain vigilant and informed about this serious disease,” the mayor stated.
