Yeng Guiao is no longer the coach of the NLEX Road Warriors, after both parties mutually agreed to part ways.
The veteran coach ended a five-year partnership with the team, helping the squad in becoming a consistent playoff contender.
“It was a mutual decision between the NLEX Road Warriors management and Coach Yeng Guiao to end the agreement,” NLEX management wrote in a statement.
“We thank him for developing the team. In fact, we reached semis twice and this showed how he professionalized the team.”
Under Guiao, the Road Warriors were able to reach the semifinals twice and had been in the playoffs the last three conferences.
A seven-time PBA champion, Guiao was able to develop players who became members of Gilas Pilipinas national team, among them include Kiefer Ravena, Kevin Alas and Calvin Oftana.
“We wish Coach Yeng all the best in his future endeavors,” added the NLEX management.
