P566.6-M Pampanga Delta Bridge now 88% complete

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Despite disruptions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, construction of the P566.6-million Pampanga Delta Bridge in Masantol town is now 88 percent complete.

“The Pampanga Delta Bridge is a crucial component of infrastructure development that will promote economic growth in Masantol and Macabebe in Pampanga and Calumpit, Hagonoy, and Malolos in Bulacan,” said Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Senior Undersecretary Emil Sadain.

At present, these municipalities and city are exchanging trades through long routes passing Apalit town.

According Sadain, the project is at “a steady pace of progress”.

Sadain disclosed that construction of the 270-meter bridge under the Bridges Construction Replacement Program 2 implemented by the Unified Project Management Office – Bridges Management Cluster is being carried out by contractor Eddmari Construction & Trading in joint venture partnership with J.H. Pajara Construction Company.

The bridge project will stimulate investment and growth with better connectivity for Masantol and Macabebe which are known to be Pampanga’s center of aquaculture development, the fastest growing food-producing activity on the northern coast of Manila Bay having hectares of fishponds for shrimps, bangus, tilapia and crabs.

It involves the construction of concrete deck bridge made of five spans of steel box girders supported by four piers and two abutments resting on bored piles of two 1.50-meter diameter at both abutments and six 1.80-meter diameter at piers.

The estimated completion date for the project has been scheduled for September 2023.
