PamCham ready to assist Capitol in helping typhoon-affected kabalen

Leaders of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. have expressed readiness to help the provincial government in helping those effected by “Carina” and the southwest monsoon.

According to PamCham director Rene Romero, the chamber reached out to Gov. Dennis Pineda to volunteer to help affected Kapampangans.

At the request of its President Terry Carlos, PamCham’s Committees on CSR, Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation, and Membership Development have initiated plans to assist flood victims in Pampanga.

Romero said the Governor assured the chamber that the Provincial Government is currently on top of the situation.

Pineda, along with Special Assistant to the Governor and Provincial Disastrer Risk Reduction and Management Chief Angelina Blanco, earlier went to the coastal towns of Sasmuan and Macabebe to distribute relief packs to some 9,095 families.

Asked about the general situation in Pampanga, Gov. Pineda said things are still manageable.

The Governor instead asked PamCham to ensure that employees are well-supported and can continue to work and receive their pay during these rainy days.

“If our employees are unable to work and earn their wages, they will struggle to buy food and other necessities, which will exacerbate the situation,” Romero noted.

He said that by taking care of their employees, they are already providing significant help to the Provincial Government.

“I salute the Governor for always being concerned about the employees in the business sector of our province,” Romero said.
