Romero thanks DPWH, LGU for road repair adjustments

Business leader Rene Romero expressed gratitude to DPWH and the City Government of San Fernando for responding to calls for safety, consideration of business affected by a major road construction in Pampanga’s capital city.

“We are thankful to authorities like DPWH and the City Government for considering our appeal,” Romero said.

His statement stems from a response last week by DPWH and its contractor for the P225-million rehabilitation of the Dolores section of MacArthur Highway. He earlier called for safety measures to protect motorists as well as pathways to business establishments affected by the road works.

He said he got a call from Engr. Jason Jauco, engineer in charge, that no additional excavation would be made from December 15 to January 1 next year. This is in anticipation of the high volume of traffic due to the holidays.

The contractor, per Romero, was also urged to use a cement mix that will be cured in four days.

The co-founder of PamCham, who has written government agencies for repair and rehabilitation of the MacArthur Highway from the JASA up to intersection near St. Jude Village, emphasized that the said road project is vital to moving people and products.

He added that this makes for better commerce and thus a stronger local economy.
