SEC Tarlac empowers police trainees through investor protection

TARLAC — One hundred police trainees here underwent a Seminar on Investment Scams and Filing of Cases on September 14, 2022 in Magalang, Pampanga.

Spearheading the seminar was the Securities and Exchange Commission-Tarlac Extension Office (SEC -TEO), in partnership with the Philippine National Police Training Institute-Regional Training Center 3 (RTC 3).

This activity aims to further increase the awareness and knowledge of the newly recruited police officers on illegal investment activities and filing of complaints to track down and prosecute those behind such schemes.

SEC TEO Director Richard R. Laus, together with Charito B. Santiago, Securities Specialist and Atty. Ma. Theresa L. Reotutar, Securities Counsel, served as the resource speakers for the said seminar.

In a statement, Director Laus said that this joint activity is part of the agreement of the two agencies to work and collaborate against illegal investment activities under the SEC Communication, Advocacy, and Network (SEC CAN!) initiative.

For his part, PCOL Miguel M. Guzman, Chief of RTC 3, expressed his sincerest appreciation to the SEC TEO for its enduring commitment to excellence and exceptional support to the professional development of the police trainees.
