CLARK FREEPORT – “We will focus on human development and social services.”
Thus, said Tarlac Second District Rep. Christian Yap when asked about his priorities if elected governor of the province in the 2025 elections.
Yap said he will mainly find ways to generate jobs for the people of Tarlac.
He cited the Sutherland company which generated 6,000 jobs.
Yap said he will also provide more scholarships and school buildings at the Tarlac State University (TSU).
He added that he will develop community colleges at municipalities in the province.
Yap said he will also focus on health care service, which was prioritized by his mother, three-term Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap.
The governor is running for mayor of Tarlac City while Christian’s uncle, Victor Yap, is running for second district congressman.
Asked why it was him who ran for governor and not Victor, Yap said “it was basically for the betterment of the second district.”
Yap said his uncle, a former governor and congressman, was “close to the House Speaker (Martin Romualdez) and they are fraternity brothers.”
“Uncle Vic (Victor) could lobby for more projects for the district and the province as a congressman,” he added.
It was perceived earlier that Victor will run for governor.
Yap’s running-mate is six-term Moncada Mayor Lita Aquino. They are running under the National People’s Coalition (NPC).
“Majority of the mayors and officials of Tarlac are with the NPC,” he said.
