Yokohama launches ‘Green Curtain’ in Porac school

SIÑURA, PORAC – Yokohama Tire Philippines, Inc. (YTPI) introduced “Green Curtain” – or using climbing plants to provide shade – to students of the Siñura Elementary School (SES) in this town.

Also called “living curtain”, it is a sustainable solution to reduce indoor temperatures. By using climbing plants trained to grow vertically over a trellis made from reusable materials, green curtains create a natural barrier that blocks sunlight and lowers heat absorption in the buildings, lowering the need for artificial cooling systems such as air conditioning.

YTPI, in an effort to promote environmental practices among students, also donated color-coded trash bins to the school.

The ceremony was conducted through the collaborative work of YTPI’s Environmental Management Section (EMS) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Team.

YTPI executives Eden Mago, Public Relations and General Services (PRGS) Section Manager and Reynante Legion, EMS Section Manager were present during the turn-over ceremony. They were warmly welcomed by SES Principal Lyn Deang and other school officials.

During the event, EMS Supervisor Shaira Sta. Catalina, conducted a Waste Management Seminar for the SES students, which was followed by a brief orientation about Tree Planting, led by EMS Supervisor Erick Payawal.
