3,228 Angeleño boys get circumcised

ANGELES CITY — Some 3,228 Angeleño boys, aged 10 and above, underwent free circumcision under the “Magpatuli para Pogi” program of the city government.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said the city’s circumcision program was conducted at the six Rural Health Units from July 4 to 28, 2022, supervised by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel with City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra and Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles.

This program was launched to cater to the needs of Angeleños, especially the indigents.

Nais po nating matulungan ang mga magulang sa mga pangangailangan ng kanilang mga anak, kaya naman po inilunsad natin ang operation libreng tuli,” Lazatin said.

Out of the 3,228, some 351 boys had their free circumcision at RHU 1; 837 at RHU 2; 443 at RHU 3; 545 at RHU 4; 407 at RHU 5; and 655 at RHU 6.

The said beneficiaries also received after-care kits.

Thirty midwives, nurses, and doctors from CHO and Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center headed by Dr. Froilan Canlas led the operation tuli. The GAD office also served as the support staff.

To recall, it was during the stint of Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin from 2002 to 2007 that Angeles City launched a free cirumcision program.
