CL cops nab 23 for illegal gambling

CAMP OLIVAS — Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay reported the arrest of 23 persons in their stepped-up campaign against illegal gambling.

Baccay said his men conducted an anti-illegal gambling operation in Purok 4, Bgy. Parulan Plaridel, Bulacan which resulted to the arrest of five individuals engaged in pusoy. Seized from the suspects were one deck of playing cards and P590 bet money.

Some 10 individuals engaged in poker and tong-its were arrested by Tarlac police in separate  operations in Concepcion, San Miguel, and Bamban, Tarlac. Two sets of playing cards, one  set of Spanish playing cards, and P2,875 bet money were seized from the suspects.

In Zambales, members of the Sta. Cruz police  and RMFB3 launched anti-illegal gambling operations in Bgy. Lucapon North, Sta. Cruz, Zambales; and in Bgy. Calapacuan, Subic which resulted to the arrest of eight individuals playing cara y cruz and tong-its and seized at least P2,392 bet money.

All the suspects will be charged with violation of P.D.1602 as amended by R.A. 9287.

“PRO3 continues to intensify its campaign and to revitalize its strategies to eradicate illegal gambling and illegal numbers game in the region,” Baccay said.
