AC gov’t ready for Typhoon ‘Paeng’, health workers on standby to provide services

ANGELES CITY — The Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) is prepared for emergencies as Typhoon “Paeng’ makes a landfall in Northern Luzon Saturday afternoon. 

The DOST-PAGASA has placed the province is under signal number 2 due to Typhoon Paeng as of 12 noon.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has ordered ACDRRMO OIC Rudy Simeon to get the medical rescue teams, vehicles and equipment ready for emergencies in the event the typhoon rampages Central Luzon.

Mayor Lazatin also instructed key offices to monitor the situation, and ensures the readiness of the Angeles City government in any eventuality. 

The mayor also ensures his constituents that medical assistance will be provided, as he instructed the City Health Office led by Dr. Verona Guevarra to ensure the availability and accessibility of health services in the Barangay Health Centers.

There are 6 Rural Health Units and 28 sub-health centers in the city’s 33 barangays.

All of these centers have readily available medicines regularly supplied by the city government.

Mayor Lazatin also said a food stockpile is readily available at the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

“Nakahanda po ang ating food assistance sa CSWDO. We have already instructed the CSWDO led by Edna Duaso to be ready for any case of assistance at the ground level,” Lazatin said. 

Apart from the food assistance, necessary supplies such as hygiene kits, blankets, and mats are also prepared at the CSWDO. 

Earlier today, Mayor Lazatin already suspended classes in the city due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.

The mayor has also ordered the City Engineer’s Office headed by Engr. Donato Dizon to form roving teams to immediately clear roads from obstructions.

Lazatin wants to ensure everyone’s safety in the event of emergencies like strong winds toppling down certain obstructions.
