Angeles City to open new, improved evacuation center in Mining

ANGELES CITY — The city government here will soon open the new evacuation center in Barangay Mining, complete with improved facilities.

“Just in time for the rainy season, I was tasked by Mayor Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. to iron out the upcoming opening of the evacuation center in Barangay Mining,” Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel said.

She said Mayor Lazatin wants to ensure the readiness of the center in the event of any emergencies or natural calamities.

The said center has a kitchen, mess hall, lactating area, prayer room, and playing area for kids. There is also a clinic in the center which has readily available medicines.

Manuel, with Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon and Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego recently inspected the center.

Aside from the main evacuation center in Mining, the city also has alternate evacuation sites: the covered courts at Capaya 2, Sta. Trinidad, Lourdes North West, Amsic and Anunas.

Last July 2021, Simeon already updated the old directional signages referring to the location of the city’s evacuation sites, since some of them are already faded or missing.

These signages serve as a guide to the public for the exact location of the main and alternate evacuation sites of Angeles City.

Simeon further thanked the administration of Mayor Lazatin for giving priority to the disaster mitigation and preparedness plan of the city against emergencies and natural calamities.

The evacuation center will be managed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Edna Duaso.
