BOC-Port of Clark conducts safety inspection, disaster preparedness drill

CLARK FREEPORT — The Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark and Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), in coordination with Fire and Rescue Unit-Public Safety Division (FRU-PSD) of the Clark Development Corporation, recently conducted a building safety inspection, Fire and Earthquake Drill.

The event is aimed at improving the overall security of customs premises, officials said.

Safety inspection and survey was conducted in all customs areas/premises such as the Port of Clark Main Office, Customer Care Center, Staff House and Headquarters, Customs Clearance Area (CCA) and storage areas. Likewise, Fire Prevention & Safety Orientation, actual fire and earthquake drill were also conducted at the Port of Clark grounds.

After the inspection, findings and recommendations were noted by the Port and will be properly addressed immediately.

In a statement, District Collector Alexandra Lumontad said that the activity conducted by ESS and PSD will greatly benefit employees and the transacting stakeholders citing that aside from revenue collection, trade facilitation and border security, the safety and security of personnel are her top priorities.
