LUBAO, Pampanga — The Provincial Government of Pampanga distributed a total of 3,000 seedlings to some sampaguita growers in Lubao town on Thursday, Feb 23.
The 50 Sampaguita growers from Barangay Sto. Domingo received the said assistance through the help of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Lubao.
On behalf of Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, 2nd District Board Members Fritzie David-Dizon, Sajid Khan Eusoof, and Lubao Mayor Esmeralda Pineda led the distribution of seedlings to the beneficiaries.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) also highlighted during the activity its plans together with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the provincial government to preserve the industry of sampaguita farming in Pampanga, citing that it can help improve the quality of the flower being produced and commercialize it to a larger market.
According to OPA, around 11 hectares of land in several barangays of Lubao still produce sampaguita flowers.
