Capitol kicks off National Women’s Month celebration

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Vice Governor Lilia Pineda honored the role of women and their contribution to nation-building, emphasizing that more than their role in society and families, they should also prioritize their well-being through the help of the “Alagang Nanay Preventive Healthcare Program” of the provincial government.

On behalf of Governor Dennis Pineda, the Vice Governor officially opened the provincial government’s celebration of National Women’s Month on Monday, March 6 with month-long activities.

This year’s celebration kicked- off with a zumba activity participated in by the provincial board members, department heads, and women employees at the Capitol grounds.

The theme of this year’s celebration, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” aims for profound economic and social transformation to build an environment that provides equal opportunities to all Filipinos.

Itong celebration nating itong March, Women’s Month. Sana hindi lang March, kailangan tayong mga kababaihan, alagaan natin yung sarili at kalusugan natin. Huwag kayong ma-stress sa problema, sa financial, sa mga asawa ninyo. Sa ating preventive healthcare gusto ko mauna muna kayo,” the vice governor said.

In support of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) campaign, the provincial government declared every Monday as “Purple” day in the Capitol, where employees are required to wear their purple advocacy shirts for the whole month of March.

The Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) also launched the activities prepared for the month-long celebration.

The provincial government will conduct “Solo Parents Caravan” where solo parents will receive financial assistance, medical consultation (ob-gyne), free chair massage, and haircuts.

Other activities include skills training on manicure-pedicure, chair massage, basic haircutting, soap making and more. The launching of the “Aklat ni DELTA Bulilit Learning Workbook” will also take place in observance of the National Women’s Month.
