CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — As part of the 451st celebration of the Aldo ning Kapampangan, the Provincial Government of Pampanga organized the first-ever Ligligang Pamandukit on December 8, at the Benigno Hall, Capitol Compound.
According to Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, the competition is a province-wide on-the-spot sculpture making contest which was organized by 2nd District Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, together with MOKA awardee and Eclessiastical Art icon WIlly Layug, and the Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office of Pampanga (ACTOP) Officer Randy Del Rosario.
Ten local artists from Betis, Guagua, Apalit and Bacolor participated the event which aims to keep the “dukit” tradition alive.
Board Member Cayabyab and Second District Board Member Fritzie David-Dizon led the ceremonial kick-off of the competition, simultaneously hitting the hardwood and producing artistic staccato beats as the artisans carved their entries.
Winners of the festival will be announced tomorrow, December 9, and will receive cash prizes.
