Late Porac councilor cited posthumously

A posthumous award was given to the late Councilor Regin B. Clarete for serving Poraqueños with dedication and commitment.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Porac conferred the award during a eulogy for the late councilor on May 28 at the town’s municipal hall. It was received by Clarete’s parents Leonardo and Estrelita.

Signed by Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil, members of the SB passed Resolution No. 220 which “expresses a heartfelt gratitude and highest commemoration to Clarete who provided significant contributions to the development, progress, and public service in the municipality of Porac.”

Signing the resolution were members of the 11th Sangguniang Bayan led by presiding officer Vice Mayor Francis “Budoy” Tamayo, Councilor Michelle Bengco; Councilor Rohner Buan; Councilor Adrian Carreon; Councilor Ayot Dimalanta; Councilor Joy David; Councilor Jovy Venzon; Councilor Ralph Canlapan; Liga ng Barangay president Maximo Bungque; IPMR representative Edwin Abuque; and SK Federation president Jin Mikhaela Canlas-Sagun.

“It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude that we pay tribute to the life and legacy of an exceptional politician gone too soon,” Tamayo said.

Despite political differences, Tamayo said Clarete made vital contributions to the approval of various developmental projects and activities for the welfare of Poraqueños.

Clarete entered politics in 2010 when he was elected as village chief of Barangay Manuali. He was elected councilor in 2013 and served until 2019. He was elected again as councilor during the 2022 elections.

He passed away on May 23 at the age of 35. He will be laid to rest on May 30.
