Lazatin wants drills in schools for crime prevention

ANGELES CITY — All of the city’s elementary, high school, colleges, and universities will undergo drills in August to ensure the students’ safety against crimes and emergencies.

“Our schools should be a safe space for our children,” Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said in ordering the conduct of the drills.

In a meeting presided by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas on July 26, 2022, the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office led by Rodolfo Simeon; City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Edna Duaso; and the Angeles City Police Office led by Colonel Diosdado Fabian will hold the simulation exercise on actual shooting scenario and kidnapping situation on August 3, 2022.

“Nais po ni Mayor Lazatin na handa tayo sa mga ganitong pagkakataon upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga mag-aaral natin sa paaralan,” Calaguas said.

The CSWDO was also tasked by Mayor Lazatin to hold a stress debriefing after the drills to prevent possible trauma on children.

Disaster personnel, law enforcers, and social workers will also receive additional trainings to equip them with necessary skills and needed logistics.

To recall, Mayor Lazatin announced this crime prevention program during his inaugural speech for his second term, delivering this as part of his flagship programs.
