MNA 2022 bets to use locally-made shoes

ANGELES CITY — Not only will the accessories of this year’s candidates for Mutya Ning Angeles be locally made, but their shoes as well.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.  said this is in line with the city’s Angeleño Pa (Angeleño First) campaign.

The shoes to be used in the prestigious pageant will exclusively be prepared by Bong Gonzales, according to Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, also one of the Chairpersons of the organizing committee of MNA 2022.

Manuel shared that when the city government ironed out the preparation and planning for the MNA 2022, one of the objectives of Mayor Lazatin is to involve local key industries to assist them in the pageant.

“In the face of the pandemic, ang industriya po nila ang isa sa mga naapektuhan. Kaya ang nais po ni Mayor Lazatin, the city government will help their livelihood by also celebrating the MNA 2022,” Manuel said.

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, who is also leading the MNA 2022, said the city government is prioritizing local talents to give them an avenue and spotlight to promote their local businesses.

In fact, three of the renowned local designers who also served as members of the MNA 2022 — Rosette Ramos-Biag, Marlon Tuazon, and Frederick Policarpio — gave the specific details of the shoe design to Gonzales.

“Gonzales, a local of Angeles City, is in the shoe industry business for decades,” Ramos-Biag said.

“Aside from that, in this time coping with the pandemic, when all businesses were affected, we have to reach out to our fellow Angeleños in any way we can,” Ramos-Biag added.

According to her, one pair of shoes will be provided to each of the official candidates.

“Even the accessories will be designed by Frederick Policarpio,” she said.

Ramos-Biag also ensures that the dynamic team is all exerting intellectual ideas, creativity, energy and hard work to produce the best pageant in the history of Angeles City, since this is the 30th Anniversary of MNA.

“Expect the ultimate production and well conceptualized program from screening to orientation to pre- pageant until the coronation night,” she claimed.

With this project, Ramos-Biag said, the MNA 2022 is a clear picture of what Mayor Lazatin, Calaguas and Manuel, as well the City Tourism Office led by Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, want in prioritizing and supporting Angeleño businesses and fashion designers.

“This project reflects the products of Angeles City in the beauty and creative side which radiates our resiliency,” Ramos-Biag mentioned.

The MNA 2022 will be co-presented by the Beautéderm Corporation headed by Rei Anicoche-Tan, and is set on Dec. 8, 2022 at the Grand Palazzo Royale.
