CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Province of Pampanga, led by Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda was recently awarded for having a “Beyond Compliant” rating in the National Gawad Kalasag Seal and Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance.
On behalf of Governor Delta, PDRRMO chief Angelina Blanco received the award during the 22nd Gawad Kalasag national awarding ceremony held at The Manila Hotel in Ermita, Manila on December 07.
The province of Pampanga is among the 29 roster provinces which received the “Beyond Compliant” rating in the country.
“Ang strength natin is we have a very hard working, committed, and hands-on Governor who is also the chairperson of the PDRRMC. Since Vice Governor po siya ang advocacy po niya ay sa DRRM na po talaga. We also have a very supportive Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, a very productive PDRRMC council, pro- active participation of our communities kaya na-achieve natin ito,” Blanco, who is also Special Assistant to the Governor, said.
The PDRRMO chief assured the council’s ongoing efforts and programs to raise the standards of disaster resiliency in the province.
“Alam naman natin napakahirap ng mga indicators dito sa Gawad Kalasag. But as far as we are concerned here in Pampanga, this is not only for compliance, tinataas po natin ang antas ng disaster resilience ng mga Kapampangan,” she added.
Other than the province of Pampanga, the City of San Fernando and the municipalities of Porac, Sto. Tomas, and Minalin also received “Fully Compliant” award from the NDRRMC.
Each local Local DRRM Council and Office were assessed based on structure, competency, management system, policies, knowledge management and advocacy, partnership, and participation.
In 2021, the province also received a “Beyond Compliant Rating” award during the RDRRMC-Region 3 Local DRRM Council and Office Assessment.
