NLEX extends relief assistance, donations to stakeholders

NLEX Corporation further demonstrated its commitment to give back and help those in need after it extended donations and relief assistance to host communities, government and transport organizations, and charitable institutions who were affected by the recent typhoons.

“Giving back is simply the right thing to do.  It is intrinsic in our corporate culture to always show our support to our stakeholders especially during times of emergencies and calamities,” said NLEX President J. Luigi L. Bautista.

Earlier this month, the tollway company has turned over 500 mattresses and 225 double deck beds to AFP’s Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) in Tarlac; Mabalacat City Drop-in Center for Women and Children; Bahay Pag-asa in Mabalacat and Angeles, both in Pampanga; and Ephesus Home for Girls in Guiguinto, Bulacan. 

“We continue to support and partner with institutions who are helping people transform their lives and acknowledge their contributions in securing the safety and welfare of every Filipinos especially the women and the youth. We salute these organizations who undertake programs that help the less fortunate Filipinos,” added Bautista.

Bahay Pag-asa Angeles head Edna Duaso expressed her gratitude to NLEX for the donations. “Sa ngalan po ng Pamahalaang Panlungsod ng Angeles, taos puso po kaming nagpapasalamat sa inyong malasakit na magbigay ng matutulugan sa mga child in conflict with the law na nasa aming pangangalaga.”  

Duaso also noted the steel beds and mattresses will help improve the well-being of the children under their care as these will give them comfort and restful sleep. The Bahay Pag-asa is being operated by Angeles City Social Welfare and Development.

In other CSR initiatives, NLEX provided relief assistance to 45 families who were affected by the structural collapse in Barangay Mapulang Lupa in Valenzuela City due to strong rains caused by the southwest monsoon and typhoon Hanna.

Gabions were also donated to Barangay Hacienda Dolores in Porac, Pampanga, who also suffered from a landslide recently.  These gabions will help to prevent another possible incident which can pose harm to the safety of the residents.

NLEX donated sacks of rice to the members of the Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization – National Jeepney Organization who were affected by the recent typhoons.

Walkers, canes and crutches were also given to the Create a Job for Disabled Association, Inc., in Pandacan, Manila to supportits program to provide persons with disabilitieswith assistive and mobility devices so they can have access to services and employment opportunities.

“Malaking tulong po ang mga donasyon na ito para mag-mobilize ang mga PWD at magkaroon sila ng normal na buhay. Sa pamamagitan ng mga gamit na ito, mas magiging confident ang mga may kapansanan na magkaroon ng trabaho,” said Armando Alimagno, Founder and President of Create a Job for Disabled Association, Inc.
