MABALACAT CITY – The City Council here has passed an ordinance disregarding the penalties, interests and surcharges on delinquent properties from 2021 and prior years in a bid to urge more Mabalaquenians to settle their overdue payments on real property tax (RPT) without hesitation.
Mayor Crisostomo Garbo said this is a way to encourage their constituents to pay their RPTs.
Vice Mayor Gerald Aquino and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod signed City Ordinance No. 3 Series of 2022 or Real Property Tax Amnesty.
Properties that are taxable under the law include land, buildings, improvements of the land/building and machinery.
Garbo believes this would allow his fellow Mabalaquenians to pay their taxes on time and lessen the burden of those who have failed to settle their duties.
“Through this ordinance, buri talang a dinang paralan reng kabalen tamu na makapamayad amilyar na ali mabayat karela,” the local chief executive added.
The payment period will run from October 01 to December 31, 2022. Requirements include Real Property Tax Amnesty Availment form, photocopy of identification card of declared owner and requesting party as well as a copy of Tax Declaration or Last Real Property Tax receipt.
Real Property Tax is one of the locally sourced revenues, which are used to fund the local government unit’s services and programs.
