Angeles City launches ‘Obrang Babayi’ Art Exhibit

ANGELES CITY — The City Government held the opening of a Women’s Month-themed visual art exhibit dubbed as “Obrang Babayi” on March 20, 2023 at the SM City Clark Event Center. 

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. personally graced the opening ceremony of the art exhibit, which is being held in cooperation with SM City Clark, Gender and Development Office, and Pamitipun King Panyulung Ning Kalalangan At Amanang Kabiasnan Kapampangan (Artist Collective).

Mayor Lazatin, during the opening ceremonies, cited the significance of Angeleña women, who will always be recognized in the society under his leadership.

“Our administration will always exert extra efforts to provide programs for our Angeleña Women, especially for their social welfare, livelihood and talent,” he asserted.

Dito po sa Angeles City, binibigyang kahalagahan natin ang pagkilala sa kakayahan at kakayanan ng kababaihan,” he added.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and Chief Adviser IC Calaguas are supervising the conduct of the art exhibit through the Angeles City Tourism Office. It will be open to the public until March 31, 2023.

Among the participating artists are Badet Tiotuico, Marylou Lilibeth Millan Dumas, Dallas Harvison, May Ann Reyes, Jing Sararana, Ailyn A. Gonzales, Elizabeth Sison, Jessica Julia Jose-Cariño, Chelsea Aven Pan, Persie Gusman, Heidy Macabenta, Maricar Yabut-Sangalang, Ann Lumba Vitug, Rafael Yves (Bam), Minerva Zamora Arceo, Bianca Coreen Sangalang, Camille Joy Pingul, Nadine De Torres, Maria Kathrina Charmaine Santiago, Jennel Bodino and Karla de Guzman Velasquez.

Participants also received exclusive loot bags courtesy of Beautéderm for sharing their creative talents as local artists of Angeles City.

Mayor Lazatin extended his heartfelt thanks to Beautéderm President and Chief Executive Officer Rei Anicoche-Tan for the support to the exhibit.

Meanwhile, also attending the exhibit are Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting, OIC Gender and Development Office Mina Cabiles, Angeles City Economic  Development and Investment Promotions Office Head Irish Llego, SM City Clark Mall Manager Jerwin Jalandoni and Curator Norman Tiotuico.

To recall, Mayor Lazatin has been partnering with various malls to hold free monthly exhibits to continuously provide avenues to promote the works of local artists of Angeles City.
