Job seekers trooped to the Labor Day Jobs Fair at SM City Pampanga as part of the country’s 121st Labor Day observance.
For years, SM Supermalls has been the primary and official partner of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in conducting job fairs in SM malls across the nation.
For this year’s job fair at SM City Pampanga, SM and DOLE coordinated with the City Government of San Fernando and the Provincial Employment Services Office.
The job fair aims to provide employment opportunities for job seekers, including fresh graduates, returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and those who have been displaced from their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The activity was also held to support the government’s efforts to reduce unemployment in the country.
Job seekers submitted their resumes and underwent initial interviews with the participating companies.
Some companies even conducted on-the-spot job offers, with qualified applicants receiving job offers on the same day.
According to Alex Inza Cruz, Assistant Regional Director of DOLE Region 3, 52 employers are included in the activity, with 8,860 job vacancies in different industries such as retail, hospitality, business process outsourcing (BPO), and the like.
Department of Tourism Region 3 Director Dr. Richard Daenos said many jobs are now in the Tourism Industry due to the strengthening of the tourism sector.
Job fairs were also held in SM City Cabanatuan at the Mall Atrium, SM City Baguio, SM City Tuguegarao, SM City Marilao, SM City Cabanatuan, SM City Pampanga, SM City Olongapo Central, SM City San Jose Del Monte and SM City Grand Central.
