CAMP OLIVAS — A notorious lady drug dealer and a fisherman were arrested Thursday by Central Luzon police in separate drug stings in Angeles City and Bataan province.
Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo Jr., Police Regional Office 3 director, said a total of more than P4 million worth of shabu were confiscated by his men from the two suspects.
Hidalgo said members of the Angeles City Police Office were able to seize from the lady drug dealer some 450 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of Php3,060,000. She was identified as Matarentis Mariga, 25, and a resident of Barangay San Miguel, Quiapo, Manila.
Mariga who got the monicker of “Ate” in the illegal drugs business, was immediately placed under arrest by the police after a buy-bust was consumated between her and an undercover cop who posed as poseur-buyer of illegal drugs. The drug bust took place at Tangle Road, Purok 1, Barangay Cutud late Thursday night.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old fisherman identified as Rei John Sebastian was arrested by anti-narcotics operatives in an entrapment operation in the coastal area of Mariveles, Bataan.
Some 150 grams of shabu with a street value of Php1,020,000 was seized from the suspect during the operation. Also, a 38 cal. revolver loaded with live bullets were confiscated from him by the police.
According to Hidalgo, both Mariga and Sebastian are considered as “high value individuals” by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the campaign against illegal drugs.
He said Mariga is now detained at the Angeles City District Jail after a case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was filed against her in court.
On the other hand, Sebastian is currently detained at the Bataan Provincial Jail after charges for possession of illegal drugs and firearms and ammunition were filed against him in court.
